"...seamless shift from humour to heartbreak"

- Kathy Rinaldi

BACKGAMMON

An Iranian and a Greek sit down to play a game of Backgammon. With coffee, tea and playful banter they engage with the audience, unfolding a slow-burn performance, full of stories, traditions, gossip, family values and strong emotions dipped in traditional music and seasoned with Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern spices.

There’s always a good dose of laughter served with ounces of nostalgia and a pinch of teary-eyes.

With this show, Ela&Yala are breathing life into the characters they know and love from their home countries, aiming straight for the hearts of the audience, reminding them that no matter where we come from, we’re all just humans with hopes, needs and dreams.

The cast:

Christianna Tsigkou (Ela AKA The greek)

Tanine M. Dunais (Yala AKA The iranian)

BAGGAGE CLAIM

Baggage Claim is a stark, poetic play about two figures caught in a liminal space where departures never arrive and arrivals never come. With an empty suitcase, a fishing-net veil, and a border that keeps shifting, Aziz and Leila wait—delayed again and again.

Time stretches in silences, punctuated by static announcements and distant bangs.

Their words circle, repeat, and contradict, mirroring the endless deferrals of escape.

At once absurd and tragic, the play captures the hopelessness of being stuck in transit, suspended between past and future, where waiting itself becomes the only certainty.
